Terms of Service – Captionstool

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Captionstool ("Service", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Captionstool is a web-based SaaS tool that lets you upload short videos, automatically generate captions via AI transcription, edit them in a timeline, and export the captioned video. The Service is provided over the internet and requires a modern browser with JavaScript enabled.

3. Account Registration

You must provide a valid email address when signing up. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Subscription & Pricing

The Pro plan is billed at 30 DKK per month (plus applicable VAT, if any). Billing is handled securely by Stripe and begins on the date you subscribe. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel.

All prices are stated in Danish Krone (DKK). We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time via the Stripe customer portal, accessible from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain full access until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@captionstool.com within 14 days of the charge and we will review your request.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Upload content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, or infringes third-party rights.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service.
Use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or unsolicited communications.
Share your account credentials with others or resell access to the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to the videos and content you upload. By uploading content you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it to train AI models.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that transcription results will be 100% accurate.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Captionstool and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
